The prophet Elisha and his servant were surrounded by an army sent to destroy them. What was Elisha’s response? This is what happened, starting with Elisha talking to his servant:
“Do not fear, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” And Elisha prayed, and said, “Lord, I pray, open his eyes that he may see.” Then the Lord opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw. And behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha. – 2 Kings 6:17
The story goes on, and God does deliver Elisha from the hand of his enemies. The point here is that their eyes were opened to see what is usually unseen.
There is a spiritual world that is actually more real than what we see on earth because the unseen things are eternal. Believers in Jesus Christ have angels watching over them. All souls are like battlegrounds, and Satan wants to take control in order to destroy. Jesus wants to save souls from destruction; that’s why he came to earth and died on the cross. He paid the penalty for our sins and made it possible for us to enjoy an eternal relationship with Father God.
It takes faith to believe in this unseen world of angels and demons. To get faith, it says in the word, we must hear the Word of God.
“So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” Romans 10:17
